It’s my birthday.
Well, not today, but we are in what I like to call “birthday season.” I think birthdays should last longer than 1 day. Enter – birthday season.
How long is birthday season, you may ask? It lasts as long as you want it to last. There is no set beginning or ending. But I would suggest about 6 weeks or so. The best part is that you get to celebrate with many people and use it as an excuse to take a trip, have a staycation, go to a concert, plan a slightly eccentric movie night, buy a new bottle of wine and make yourself a beautiful dinner – you name it.
Birthday season is perfectly in theme with my love of celebrating. I think good things that happen should have their moment - in whatever way you deem appropriate. Your celebration can be small like a new lipstick, or it can be bigger like a party with everyone you’ve ever met.
So. In honor of the beginning of birthday season, I’ve decided to share some of my absolute favorite things.
This lipstick. At the beginning of 2024, I decided I wanted to wear more red lipstick. I love lipstick in general. I am sure there will be a whole musing report about lipstick in our future because it’s hard to find the right red lipstick. If you have British royalty pale skin and dark hair with hazel eyes, boy do I have the perfect red for you. And if you too are consumed by the quest for the perfect lipstick, you know that the right color is only part of it. There is then the need to factor in how it feels, the texture, the sheen, and most importantly, the staying power. Will it stay on through a board meeting in which you’re the only woman? Can you have a couple of glasses of an acceptable white wine at a cocktail reception (more to come on this)? And could you maybe, just maybe have dinner and your lipstick not fade? So. Yeah. This is the lipstick for you.
This under eye magic wand thing. Yes. My descriptions leave a little to be desired. But I have been using this stuff for the last three years, and I find that under my eyes looks more awake, less pigmented, and I end up barely using any under eye concealer. This product also sorta makes me feel like I’m cheating because it’s technically a skincare product and not makeup. So my makeup usage is WAY down. It is nourishing AND correcting. This is one of those products that legitimately does what it claims to do. I love when that happens.
This label maker. Follow me here. I am a lover of a label maker, and I’ve tried my fair share of them. And this one is the absolute best for all your on-the-go-label maker needs. You may be asking yourself, “why would I actually need a label maker?” or “why can’t I stop reading this?” I can answer the first, and the second is more because you are either related to me or you legitimately find me funny. I’ll take either. But back to the first question. There are tons of uses for a label maker – need to know what goes on the shelf in your kitchen. Label it. Want to make sure all users of your house know the dinner napkins go on the right and the cocktail napkins go on the left. Label it. Want to make sure the person trying to organize iPhone chargers knows which one belongs to which person? Label it. The same goes for AirPods. Have a closet of boxes that look identical to the untrained eye, but contain vastly different items? Label it. So there. Label makers are a key component of healthy and clear communication.
Birthday season has endless possibilities with a twinge of spontaneity. And I can’t wait!
